Although players with no knowledge of golf will find Golf King - World Tour easy to pick up and play, having a basic understanding of how golf is played and scored can enhance one’s experience with the game.
Two players face off against each other one-on-one to get their ball into the hole in the least number of strokes possible. Golf courses are divided into different tiers such as Par-3, Par-4 and Par-5. Generally, the larger the course, the higher the tier. As opposed to most other games, the player with the least number of points in golf is the winner.
On a Par-3 course, if a player takes three turns to get their ball into the hole, they get a score of 0, on a Par-4, four turns will get them a 0, and on a Par-5, five turns to get their ball in the hole grants them a 0. The points in golf are associated with names as shown below:

- 2 → Eagle
- 1 → Birdie
0 → Par
+1 → Bogey
+2 → Double Bogey
